SAN DIEGO SUMMER SHOWS 2021
NIRVANA VS FOO FIGHTERS
Rehearses: Mondays
First Rehearsal: June 14th, 2021
Director: Damon DeLaPaz
If you turn on the radio right now, there’s a good chance a song by one of these bands will be playing. After Nirvana exploded and changed the world in the 90s, no one expected the drummer to go on to form the biggest band of the 2000s, but that’s exactly what Dave Grohl did and we’re all better off for it. You love all of these songs, so we don’t really need to sell you on this one.
THE CURE
Rehearses: Tuesdays
First Rehearsal: June 15th, 2021
Director: Andrew Steele
The Cure were one of the most successful bands of the 80s, but they’ve been putting out records for over 40 years. This is one of those shows where every song is your favorite song. Are they punk? Goth? New Wave? Pop? Who cares?! These songs RULE and the band’s music and fashion style influenced generations of fans and bands alike. Truly original. It’s been a long time since we’ve done a Cure show, so don’t miss it!
GLAM ROCK (AKA “David Bowie & Friends”)
Rehearses: Wednesdays
First Rehearsal: June 16th, 2021
Director: Tyler Ward
You could call Glam both a musical style and fashion movement rolled into one swanky era of Rock & Roll. We’ll start with Bowie, of course, and will also include bands like T-Rex, New York Dolls, Mott The Hoople, Sweet, Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Suzi Quattro, Alice Cooper, and more. If you love Bowie, groovy guitar rock, or even just wild fashion, you will LOVE this show.
AC/DC
Rehearses: Saturdays AM
First Rehearsal: June 19th, 2021
Director: Jenny Merullo
With possibly the greatest guitar duo of all time, AC/DC are absolute monsters of rock & roll. Countless hits kept them on the radio and some of the best rock riffs of all time put them in the history books. Everyone needs to study these songs at some point, so, if you’ve never done an AC/DC show, now’s your chance. Essential.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
Rehearses: Saturday PM
First Rehearsal: June 19th, 2021
Director: Jay Sanchioli
These guys turned out to be one of the most influential and inspiring bands of their time. With riffs that could make an arena of fans lose their minds, they conquered the world with only 3 classic records. Every guitarist that followed were influenced by the ultra creative guitar effects work and Rage ended up being the gold standard for the newly coined “rap rock” genre. This is the first time we’ve given them their own show, so if you’ve ever dreamed of playing a whole Rage set, don’t miss this one!
