We made some adjustments (took off most of the backup vocals, changed Isabelle's parts to guitar, and added a few parts). 

There's another surprise in there too that I think you'll be stoked with. Get to work!

Note about London Calling

Hey guys, 

I know you all have a million parts right now, especially if you're in our House Band. Don't let that overwhelm you! You're all rising to the challenge and if you make this last week count, the show will rule! I suggest you make a list of all of your parts and run them everyday. Any part you mess up, gets played again or gets more attention later that day. Listen to all your tunes a ton and sing along to 'em. 

If you can't remember what you're supposed to do or you lost your notes on what parts to fix, etc etc, ask Tyler asap! (email him at tward@schoolofrock.com)

If you feel like you're getting swamped, take a deep breath and focus specifically on the one or two parts that are scariest. You can do it!

NEW EPIC ALBUM   Led Zeppelin  III & IV

This will be a doozy. The spring season of our Epic Album program pairs the most underrated Zeppelin album with their most celebrated! There are a ton of super hits like Stairway To Heaven, Immigrant Song, and Black Dog, of course, but also will include some Zep deep cuts like Friends, Gallows Pole, and Four Sticks! Like our London Calling show, this one will be split between Encinitas and San Diego, with some songs being played by members of both schools. There will be a few joint rehearsals played at each school!

Encinitas Rehearses: Mondays, 6-8pm

First Rehearsal: March 20th

San Diego Rehearses: Thursdays, 6-8pm

First Rehearsal: March 23rd

Show:  Mid July (exact date to be determined)

EXPERIENCE HENDRIX SOUNDCHECK!

Hey! We have a cool opportunity for you, but you have to act fast. 

EXPERIENCE HENDRIX is an amazing show celebrating Jimi Hendrix and features a ton of incredible musicians. Go to www.experiencehendrixtour.com to check it out.
Although you guys can't see the show (it's 21 and up only), we can get a few of you in to see their soundcheck!! Here's what you need to know:

March 4th
4pm-6pm
Harrah's Event Center (in Valley Center). It's far, so make sure your ride is willing to drive there!
There is no Meet and Greet, but it'll still be a cool inside look at how they soundcheck.
There is only space for a few students from each school and only a couple of parents total.

AllStar auditions are on Saturday at 2:15pm. Guidelines are HERE.
If you haven't signed up at the school, just email sandiego@schoolofrock.com to let us know that you plan on auditioning. 

To audition for SoR SD, you need to be currently fully enrolled (Lessons & Show). You also need to have had prior experience in our House Band and be in good standing. 

As always, you need to carefully read the Guidelines, as some of it has changed since last year.

Rehearses: Saturdays from 11am-2pm

First Rehearsal: January 28th
 

Bowie is one of the great innovators of music and fashion of all time. His records are fun and catchy while being profound and moving. A true artist. We’ll play tons of hits and deep cuts so this will be an eclectic one!


 

NEW WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL
 

Directed by Andrew Steele, Assisted by Damon Delapaz

Rehearses: Saturdays from 3:30-6:30pm

First Rehearsal: January 28th
 

NWOBHM is what we call all the incredible metal bands from the UK that were making waves in the late 70s. This includes Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Motorhead, Saxon, Venom, Angel Witch and a ton more. This will be really challenging, but crazy fun.


 

SONGWRITING/RECORDING
 

Directed by Tyler Ward, Assisted by Shelbi Bennett

Rehearses: Wednesdays from 5:15-8:15pm

First Rehearsal: January 25th
 

3rd annual! Students spend their rehearsals writing, arranging and practicing original songs. At the end, they'll go to a studio and make a record! This is primarily for students who have been at the school for a while and are pretty far along on their instruments. This group will have a smaller cap (around 10) and members need approval from their teacher and music director to join. The registration fee will be higher because of the added costs of studio rental. Details to come.

 

*All shows will perform in June! Details coming very soon!

*You must put down a 1st AND 2nd choice on the signup sheet. If you only put down one show, we’ll make sure you DON’T get it! Muahahahaha!
