Hendrix Epic Album

Nearly all our songs are fully cast with the correct tuning next to each song title.  There are plenty more songs to tackle after this first batch, let alone figure out tone and technique of bloody Hendrix, that we need to move quick!  Don't let a complicated passage keep you from learning other parts of the song.  Use tabs, friends, teachers, live videos or whatever else is out there to help you realize your parts.  Also, use your ears! If it sounds right, it is right.

If you don't have a bass at home and are cast on a bass part, use your guitar to practice. It's the same tuning as the bottom 4 strings on a guitar E-A-D-G.  Also, I don't know where this myth started that bass players don't use picks, but it's nonsense.  Do what feels natural!

If you don't know which part is yours as your listening to a song, ask me, or email Tyler.

Arthon we will figure something out for your sweet backwards guitar part, so don't stress about it.

We need vocalists so if anyone has ever considered singing this would be a great opportunity for you, even if it's just one tune.

Have fun!

WEEZER UPDATED!!

Check out the new parts!

Drummers, most of you did not get new parts. Based on our last rehearsal, I think you could all use a bit of time to straighten out the form and feel of the songs you currently have. Work hard this week, and you can expect to get a new part soon.

Guitarists, most of you have been given a bass part. Get to it.

Vocalists, the sooner you memorize your lyrics the sooner you will get new parts, simple as that.

Keep up the hard work! Remember to watch live videos to give yourself an idea of how to play, not just what to play. You have to get in the Weezer mind set to really pull this one off. Alright go practice now!

To the Rush crew

My doooods,

So far, so good. I'm really stoked with the progress we've made in this first half. I'll be casting more parts (and hopefully new songs) very soon, but in the mean time, this is your job.

-Quiz yourself on the structure of all of your songs at least once everyday. This is especially important on the longer jams.

-Strive to absolutely finish the basics (verses & choruses, intros & endings) as soon as you possibly can.

-Spend the most time on the parts of the song that scare you the most. Solos, fast passages, long middle sections, odd-time parts, etc etc etc. These parts will only get easier if you work on 'em!

LASTLY, if you've been at the school for a long time, please don't hesitate to help your fellow bandmates. There are some students in this show who know how to play A TON of Rush songs and there are a few students who are in their first or second show. Help each other out and the world will be a better place!

(For all of you who are in their first or second show, keep it up! I'm stoked you're in such a tough show! You got this, just keep working hard!!)

To the Beach Party crew

Yo!

So far I'm stoked on everyone's positivity and attendance.  We've only had a couple absences each week which isn't so bad, but do your best to be here. It's a short season and we need your help! Some songs are right where they should be: ocean breathes salty, rock lobster, blister in the sun, hang loose, in the summertime, the only place, miserlou. Keep up the good work with those!

Some songs tougher to get through right now, so be sure to spend extra time on these ones: la luz, rockaway beach, surf wax, king of the beach. Don't let the speed scare you. You can pull it off if you try to get a little bit better each day.

The newer ones aren't so new anymore, so you should be finishing the basics and working on details (wipeout, summer in the city, stoked, in the sun).

And for "air conditioned" .... That one is tough!! Spend a lot of time on the parts that SCARE you. That's the only way to tackle the tough tunes.

Keep up the hard work!

To the Zeppelin crew

Congrats!

This show was one of the longest that we've done and you had to really step up your game to make it through the end. We hope you had fun studying these massively important records and learned something new about the compositions, tone, feel, and even gear used that makes each song magical. Since we don't get the chance to meet again to chat about the show, you should do it on your own! Think about the whole season and make a list of what you feel you did really well and what you would change if you were able to start the season over again. It would be good to also list which parts and/or techniques were really challenging so you can spend more time on those concepts in the future. You should strive to make every new season your best yet!

Everyone knows those huge Zeppelin riffs, but it was really fun getting to spend time on all those deep cuts and acoustic songs. We were especially stoked to see you guys play instruments that were new to you and take on way more songs than normal. Thanks for all the hard work!

Rush updated!

Everyone has 3 or 4 parts (remember that super long songs count as more than 1 part).

Go get 'em!

Rush cast list posted!!

Everyone has 2 or 3 parts with more coming in a few days. Some songs are so long that they count as two, so keep that in mind. Even though there are a lot of you guys, I intend on adding many more songs, so move through these ones quick to get on the next batch!
